The Miniature Pinscher is loyal, loving, and simply wonderful.

It's no wonder the Miniature Pinscher is nicknamed the "King of the Toys".

Yep, I'll admit it, I absolutely love my Min Pins. And that's why I started this site. To share my experiences with my favorite of all small dog breeds, and to give you a place to share yours.

The truth is I never thought I would like a miniature dog. In fact I never liked any small dogs. That changed when I got my first Miniature Pinscher.

Sasha

Sasha was my first Min Pin, and a joy to me every day. She followed me everywhere. If I was doing laundry, she was in the basement with me. She slept with me a night. I couldn't even go to the bathroom without her at my feet. She went where I went.

Like most Min Pins she was fiercely loyal. But also like most Min Pins, she was extremely excitable, active, courageous and curious. One day as we were getting ready to go somewhere in the car (she loved it), I put her down for just a second. The mailman was across the street, Sasha took off running and was hit by a car. I don't remember ever crying that hard for days. My husband had to come home from work. It was awful. I still cry. I miss Sasha.

Ruby

Shortly after Sasha's death, my husband decided I should get another Miniature Pinscher. Knowing that there was no way to replace Sasha, I opted for a red one this time.

What a blessing Ruby has been. She may not follow me everywhere like Sasha, but she's just as loyal, with her very own independent personality. And what a tremendous amount of energy she has (that's typical for Miniature Pinschers).

When it's bath time, she just hops right in the tub. At night, she sleeps with us. Sometimes lying between my husband's legs with her head propped up on his shin, and sometimes under the covers nestled up against my back or my legs. Every once in a while I'll wake up to find her face in mine, as if she's willing me to wake up too so we can go play. And her facial expressions are endless. She communicates with me by showing different expressions. Ruby has got a big, tooth showing smile.

Journey

Journey is actually my daughter's Miniature Pinscher. Like Ruby, she's full of energy and always on the go. But Journey will DEMAND attention.

If my daughter is out and I'm lying down, she will jump up on the bed and force her head under my hand, or scratch my hand with her paw. It's her way of telling me she wants to be petted. And she'll stay with me until she hears my daughter come home. Then she's off my bed and downstairs to see her. Then Journey will be with my daughter the rest of the night. Another typically loyal Min Pin.

OK, enough about my Miniature Pinschers (can you tell I love to brag?). Let me tell you about this site.

To find out more about Miniature Pinschers and what makes them so special, click on the information link.

One way you can add to this site is by sending me pictures of your Miniature Pinscher. Put a short caption on it if you’d like, and I’ll put the best ones up in the photos section.

There’s also a link for questions and answers. Send your questions to me and I’ll try to answer them. And better still, I’ll share your questions with all the site’s visitors. If you see a question you have and answer for, send it along, and I’ll post it so everyone can benefit.

Of course if you own a Min Pin (or are thinking about getting one), you’ll want to train it well, otherwise they will run you. In the training section I’ll post some of the best tips for making your Miniature Pinscher an obedient pet. Also, you can browse through the articles pages for more great tips. Most of the emails we get concern training. It's not hard, but you have to do it right.

If you've been with us a while, you've no doubt noticed some big changes in the Dog Breeds section. If you don't think the Min Pin is the breed for you, you can now learn the good points and bad of over 100 other different breeds. We are slowly but surely adding a detailed description of every breed.

We've also just added a Dog Blog. This will not be devoted exclusively to Miniature Pinschers but to most dog breeds. We'll try to update it frequently with valuable information for raising a happy, healthy and obedient pet. The blog section will also update when we add new content.

Check back every day, or better still, add us to your RSS feed. That way you'll never miss an update. If you're not sure how to do that or don't know what RSS is, click on the blog page and we'll explain.

Finally, something else we're really proud of. We've just started a newsletter. Like the blog, it will not be devoted exclusively to the Miniature Pinscher. If you sign up for our mailing list you'll receive dog care and training tips twice a week in your Inbox. There's no charge, you can cancel at any time and we'll never share your email address so you have absolutely nothing to lose. It's a perfect compliment to our blog. We'll be discussing different topics in the newsletter so you'll want to sign up for both so you won't miss a thing.

Oh, and lots of other great changes are on the way as well, so check back often.

OK, take a look around, tell me what you think. Feel free to send me your suggestions on how to improve the site.

And don’t forget to hug your Miniature Pinscher today!
