Alapaha Blue Blood Bulldog
The Alapaha Blue Blood Bulldog is an extremely rare breed. Best estimates say there are between 150-200 currently living.
The ABBB was developed in southern Georgia, originally used as a plantation watchdog. Much like the more common American Bulldog, they can be very aggressive, guarding their home, family and possessions to the death. But the breed is typically quite friendly and relaxed, unless the need to be aggressive arises.
Descriptions of the ABBB include alert, intelligent, protective, responsible and trainable. Typically they make great companions, adore their families and do well with children. However they need human contact, and therefore are best not left as an "outdoor dog".
Males are much larger than females although all vary greatly in size. Males can be anywhere from 50-130 pounds and 19-26 inches. Females on the otherhand, are generally 50-90 pounds.
The dog requires minimal grooming because of it's short coat. The ABBB is active and enjoys exercise.
