Goldendoodle
As the name implies, the Goldendoodle is a hybrid dog that comes from the mating of a Golden Retriever and a Poodle. Most experts believe the first of this breed appeared in Australia. This dog, as with other hybrid dogs, generally end up with the best traits from both parental breeds. This affords this breed many desirable characteristics. They are highly intelligent, very eager to please, obedient and easy to train. They are loving, loyal and possess a great sense of smell. This friendly dog is gentle, making it very good with kids. They are also very easy going with strangers. This dog is an excellent hunting companion and likes the water; although some have to be taught to swim. They love to retrieving, getting most enjoyment from playing fetch with their family. Due do their overall temperament and obedience level, this breed is also considered an excellent assistance dog. Although size classifications are not yet uniform, most Goldendoodles weigh between 25 and 75 pounds. Some Golden Retrievers are bred with Standard Poodles, while others with smaller poodles. This dog is considered a light shedder. Their coats are either shaggy or more relaxed and curly, and are generally seen tan, black or mixed colors. Black is currently the most common coat color, and also the least expensive. Having no known health concerns to date, they generally lives to reach the age of 15. Most have litters of between 6 and 8 pups.
